Services for Rick: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Attendees are asked to dress casual and/or wear your favorite sports teams.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Wrightsville.
Patrick “Rick” Jay McDonald, 78, of Wrightsville passed away on February 6, 2026. He was born in Columbia to Helen and the late Abram McDonald and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Rick attended Penn manor High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked with Century Link for forty years until his retirement. Rick was lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and Wrightsville Social Club. He was also involved with the Wrightsville Borough Council and Wrightsville Water Authority. Rick was an avid Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State fan who enjoyed boating on the Susquehanna and working in his yard. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
Rick leaves behind his wife of forty years Mel McDonald of Wrightsville; two daughters, Lorie, wife of Greg Goodman of Ephrata, Brienna, wife of Jeff Root of Ephrata; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his mother, Helen McDonald of Millersville; three siblings, Shaun, husband of Connie McDonald of Silver Spring; Michael, husband of Linda McDonald of Millersville; Kathi, wife of David Barnett of Washington Boro; daughter-in-law, Missie Newcomer of Mountville; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends; his canine companions Charlotte, Izzy, Raven, and Reva. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son Patrick J. McDonald.
