With profound sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Reverend Don H. Wert, 81, of Red Lion, PA, on Friday, September 4, 2026. Born in Port Royal, PA, he was the beloved husband of Rita Kaye Wert. He was the father to 4 children and the proud pop-pop to 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother. Don passed completely at peace knowing that he was on his journey to meet and dance with Jesus Christ.

Don lived a life of service. He loved his family and friends fiercely and was very passionate about helping others. He served as a warrant officer in the Army Reserves for 6 years. He served as an Evangelical Congregational Pastor for over 40 years at 6 different churches, most recently at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, in Columbia, PA. He was the President and Executive Director of Pennsylvanians Concerned About Alcohol Problems. Don served for many years as a board member for Conestoga Valley School District and Donegal School District. He was instrumental in many charitable and Christian based organizations.

Don had a great sense of humor. He loved ice cream and pork chops and eating dinner at local diners. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but one of his greatest past times was boating. He was not afraid to cry at TV commercials and anyone who met Don knew he loved taking an afternoon chair nap. His greatest wish was that everyone would have a personal relationship and be saved by Jesus Christ.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Reich’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Marietta, PA, at 12pm. A visitation with the family will take place that same day between 10am and 12pm. Interment will be private. Donations can be made in Don’s memory to Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Columbia, PA.
