Patricia Ann Dimitris, 81, of Lancaster passed away on January 2, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Lancaster to the late Franklin and Anna Bowers. Patricia’s dedication to her family included twenty years as a military wife beside her late husband, who served in the United States Air Force. She was a compassionate and caring person whose heartfelt love for her family and those around her will always inspire us. We are grateful to have had her in our lives, and she will be deeply missed.

Patricia leaves behind her son, Dwayne Dimitris, companion of Debra Myers of Lancaster; her daughter-in-law, Patty Dimitris Dietch, widow of her late son Craig Dimitris, of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Tiffanee, wife of Albert Wright of Mountville, Christina, wife of Steven Schoffstall of Lancaster, Kyle, husband of Heidi Dimitris of Cape Coral, FL; six great grandchildren, Kiara, Kaiya, Tyler, Preston, Cameron, Carter; her brother, Jerry, husband of Cathy Bowers of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty three years, George Dimitris in 2005, her son, Craig Dimitris in 1993, and six siblings.

A celebration of Patricia’s life was held at Lancaster Alliance Church on January 11th, 2018. She was laid to rest beside her late husband George at Conestoga Memorial Park in Lancaster. Robert E. "Bob" Fornoff, 87, of Ironville, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community.

Born in Ironville, he was the son of the late Roy and Margaret Snyder Fornoff. He was the husband of Maria Gecas Fornoff with whom he was married 19 years. His first wife Fern Redcay Fornoff passed away in 1996. In addition to his wife are his daughters, Janice, wife of Mark Bute; Laurie, wife of Oscar Plowman; Beverly Fornoff; Lydia, wife of Allen Hipple; Cynthia Bowman; Deborah, wife of George Maldonado; Jessica, wife of James Stevens; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joann, wife of Leroy Lehman.

Bob was a 1949 graduate of Columbia High School where he excelled in track and field. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A bricklayer, he started his masonry career with Alvin Mummaw. Bob was a member of the Ironville United Methodist Church where he will be remembered for his lifelong service to the Church. He was a member of the Lancaster Liederkranz, enjoyed woodworking and found fulfillment in raising shrubs in his own greenhouse.

Funeral services will be held at the Ironville United Methodist Church, 4020 Holly Drive, Columbia PA 17512 on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Impink, officiating. Private interment will be held in Laurel Hill memorial Gardens. Family and friends may view at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Bob's memory to the Ironville United Methodist Church.

Mazie Yohe, 87, of Maytown passed away on January 7th, 2019. She was born in Columbia to the late Benjamin F. and Mary E. Mimnall and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mazie loved to shop, scratch her Bingo Lottery tickets, and cook for her family. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mazie was a devoted wife, mother, and sister who also took care of her sisters in their later years.

Mazie leaves behind her husband of seventy years, Ben Yohe of Maytown; her children, Steve Yohe of Mountville, Robin, wife of Rick Ernst of Columbia, Tammy, wife of Robert Eno of Landisville, John, husband of Alesha Yohe of Maytown; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Yohe in 2016; a great grandchild, Kyrie; twelve brothers and sisters.

A celebration of Mazie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. Sister Mary John Goles, ASC, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Steelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Sestric Vergot Goles. Sister Mary John was preceded in death by her siblings, John, Jack, and Steve Vergot;Joseph Golesh, Anthony, Matthew and Catherine Goles.

Sister Mary John entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on August 28, 1939. Her ministries included serving as principal and teacher of elementary schools and serving as local superior.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel at St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Norman Hohenwarter, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the adjoining convent cemetery. Thomas G. "Spider" Allen, 65, of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on January 7, 2019 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Derotha "Dee" Ellison Allen with whom he was married 42 years. Born in Detroit MI, he was the son of the late Dallas L. and Elizabeth Allen.

Tom was a graduate of Michigan State University where in received his degree in metallurgy. After working in several foundries, he was employed for the past 35 years as a technical supervisor for the Kleen Rite Corporation in Mount Joy.

He enjoyed hunting, but his greatest love was his family, spending time with them at their mountain cabin.

In addition to his wife are his children, Thomas husband of Tracey Allen; Amanda fiancée of William Reisinger; Tyler Faus; grandchildren, Karli, Oxzonna, Cassie, Bryan, Ryan; five brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Christian proudly served 23 years in the United States Air Force and retired honorably. He was an avid gardener, woodworker and professional football enthusiast (especially the Dallas Cowboys). Christian was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother who adored his family.

Christian is survived by his Wife of 63 years, Betty Beck of Conestoga; 4 Children, Richard Beck, husband of Holly Beck of Peach Bottom, Katharine Leader of Lancaster, Robert Beck, husband of Meghan Evaston-Beck of Dover, Brenda Hartman, wife of Robert Hartman, Jr. of Columbia; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Margaret Chaney of Columbia and Janet Hellar of Red Lion. James M. Resch, 55, of Lancaster, passed away on January 4, 2019 at the Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James J. Resch and Bonnie Baxter Resch Wertz.

He was employed as a production worker at the Sauder Egg Company in Greenfield. He enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams the Michigan Wolverines and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his sister, Tracy wife of Thomas Witmer; brother, Steven M. Sr. husband of Tracey Resch; sister, Barbara (Wertz) wife of Mark Reading; niece, Margaret Witmer and nephews, Steven M. Resch, Jr. and Joshua Resch.

Born in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Theresa Cintula Janciar. Sister Mary Matthew was preceded in death by her siblings, John Kuzbel, Joseph Kuzbel, Leonard Kuzbel, Anna Rusin and Elizabeth Kessler.

Sister Mary Matthew entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on August 29, 1939. Her ministries included teaching, especially the languages, Community leadership, Pastoral ministry and education and ministry to immigrants.

Edward G. Welsh, Sr., 76, of Marietta passed away on January 5th, 2019. He was born in Columbia to the late Cleon, Sr. and Iona Weaver Welsh and was a lifelong resident of this area. Edward worked for the former Mountville Wallpaper and retired after almost thirty years. He was a fan of old western movies and professional wrestling. For many years he played the role of Santa Claus at Christmas time to entertain his family and friends. Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother who adored his family. He will be remembered by his family for that special smile, caring heart, his warm embrace he always gave, and being there for his family no matter what.

Edward leaves behind his wife of almost fifty six years, Nora Welsh of Marietta; his children, Edward, Jr. husband of Bonnie Welsh of Middletown, Denise Welsh-Barndt, wife of Brian Barndt of East Petersburg; Connie, wife of Stephen Oravec of Tower City; Brian, husband of Heather Welsh of Manheim; Rick, husband of Denise Welsh of Mount Joy; grandchild that was raised by Edward and Nora, Jessica Zimmerman of East Petersburg; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Tom, husband of Flora Welsh of Columbia. Pauline “Polly” W. Weiksner, 87, passed away at Mount Hope Nazarene Nursing Home on December 30th, 2018. She was born in Altoona, PA to the late John and Irene Hoar and was a lifelong resident of this area. Polly was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville and the East Petersburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting Bethany Beach, DE with her family and taking care of the neighborhood cats. She also enjoyed trips back to her hometown and loved sports, especially football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Polly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who adored her family. She could always be found in the stands cheering on all of her grandchildren at their sporting events or band competitions.

Polly leaves behind her husband of sixty-five years, Gene B. Weiksner of Manheim; her children, Stephen, husband of Nada Weiksner of Marietta, Sheryl, wife of Carl Gehman of Ronks; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy “Dot” Mellard.

Stephanie Reitzel Groft, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Anne's Retirement Community after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Groft, with whom she was marred 55 years, until his death in 2010.

A lifelong Columbia resident, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rosanna Aston Reitzel. A Columbia High School graduate, Class of 1952, she worked in various banks in Columbia throughout the years, but the job she loved the most was that of housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved reading, watching old movies and television shows and playing Solitaire at the kitchen table.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracey, wife of Carl "Rock" Swingler; granddaughter, Emily, wife of Joel Siegrist; great-granddaughter, Stella Drew Siegrist; brother, John "Tim," husband of Mary Lou Reitzel; sisters-in-law, Theresa, wife of John Nitroy; Elizabeth Groft and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Ann, wife of the late Monte Cooper and her beloved grandson, Andrew Paul Swingler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, N. Ninth St. Ext. Columbia PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Andy Eisenhaur, age 54, passed on December 26th at Hospice and Community Care of Mount Joy. Andy lived a full life on her terms, defying the odds time and time again. She enjoyed spending precious time with her family, camping trips, worshiping and fellowship at Vision of Hope in Mountville, giving back and honoring those we’ve lost to cancer as Team Captain of Josie’s Jewels for Relay for Life of Lancaster, scrapbooking and crafting with her friends and family.

In Loving Loss are Andy’s partner Kathy Koval of Hershey, her daughter, Kim Klein & her wife, Janelle, grandchildren Stephen, RaiKuan and Haley, of Harrisburg and Kim’s dad, Dave Lilly, of Hershey. Andy is also survived by her brothers, John and Joe Eisenhaur and sister Joanne Allison, all of Columbia and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and various friends and family in the Susquehanna Valley and beyond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tina Bradley.

L. Evelyn Ohrel, 95, of Columbia, passed away on December 25, 2018 at Paramount Senior Living, Maytown. Born in Kirkwood, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Zeeda Hess Ferguson.

Along with her family, she owned and operated Andy's Market in Columbia. Evelyn was a member of the Columbia Presbyterian Church and enjoyed puzzles, cross stitching, the mountains and spending time at her daughter Marie's river cottage.

She was the wife of the late Anthony E. Ohrel. Sr. and is survived by her children, Anthony E. Jr. husband of Donna Ohrel; David J. husband of Stacy Ohrel; T. Walter Ohrel; Marie, wife of Claude "Booty" Myers, Jr.; Jacqueline wife of Richard Mackey; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Rev. John Ferguson; She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sherry Myers and siblings, Lewis, Thomas, Aileen Still and Alma Jackson.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Columbia PA with the Rev. David Powers, officiating. Glenn E. Smith, 64, of 720 Lake Street, Lancaster, PA. passed away on December 22, 2018 at Hamilton Arms Nursing Center after a battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Edgar W. and Ruth Depew Smith. Glenn was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County. He was formerly employed by both Weis Markets in the Manor Shopping Center and McDonald’s on the Manheim Pike. Glenn enjoyed shuffleboard, meeting his friends at the clubs he belonged to and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his siblings: Gordon (Bertha) Smith, Peg (Ben) Fetter, Dave (Beverly) Smith, Michael (Lynn) Smith and John Smith. Glenn is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Roxanne, Tricia, Amanda, Katelyn, Rebecca, Sarah, Jesse, Tom, Jimmy, Mark, Tyler and Jennifer. Ruth E. Sellers, 92, of Landisville, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Juniper Village, Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late J. Norman Sellers with whom she was married 53 years until his death in 1999. A lifelong resident of Landisville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Carrie Mease Swisher.

A devoted wife, mother and nanny, Ruth loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with them this year. She was a longtime member of the Church of God of Landisville, where she was a charter member of the FLOW ministry.

She retired after 35 years of service from the Hempfield School District where she was employed as the cafeteria manager. Ruth enjoyed roller skating at Maple Grove and Rocky Springs, which was how she met her husband Norm. She also enjoyed rides in the country and road trips traveling with Norm and Bud and Hazel Mease to various shopping malls in Pennsylvania. Ruth especially enjoyed going out to dinner with special friends and family and vacationing at Rehoboth beach and day trips to Laurel Lake and Crystal Beach.

Ruth's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Juniper Village and Hospice of Masonic Village for the great care given to their mother.

She is survived by her son, Barry, husband of Lori Sellers; daughter, Norma, wife of William Murphy; grandchildren, Amanda Murphy; Barry, husband of Neary Sellers; Stefany Sellers and great-grandson, Bryer Sellers. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Keiran Sellers.

Nadine F. Askey, 66 of 234 N. 5th St., Columbia, PA died on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA. She was the wife of Edward S. Askey. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on October 24, 2017. Born in Columbia, PA she was the daughter of the late George A. and Margaret R. Horn Shenberger.

She retired as a Material Handler for QVC. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and will be remembered as a terrific wife, mom and devoted grandmother and she loved nature.

Surviving in addition to her husband are 2 Sons: Brian E. husband of Kristy L. Askey and Philip M. Askey both of Columbia, PA., 4 grandchildren: Madelyn, Miranda, Blake and Carson, Sister: Karen R. wife of Wayne S. Kauffman of Columbia, PA., brother: Craig G. husband of Carol A. Stoner Shenberger of Lancaster, PA and sister: Gina M. wife of John W. Kuhns of Columbia, PA and 18 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Trinity Catholic Church 4th & Cherry Streets Columbia, PA on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00AM (VISITATION: 10:00AM – 11:00AM) with Rev. Fr. Stephen Kelley as Celebrant. Final Commendation and Farewell will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Elmer Zink

Recently celebrated his 66th wedding anniversary

Elmer Zink, 85, of Columbia., passed away on December 17, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of his loving wife, Joanne Shultz Zink. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 20th.

Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Anna R. Rapp Zink.

He worked for 20 years at the Pioneer Gas Station, Columbia, while also working at ITT Engineered Valves, Centerville. He retired as supervisor in 1995 after 43 years of service.

He was an avid sports fan and loved rooting for his Columbia Crimson Tide teams, Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Elmer was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and was active in many community organizations. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1074, Lions Club, Sun Snappers, Foresters, Owls and Loyal Order of Moose. He was past exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge and currently held the position of Tiler.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Elmer, husband of Maiza (Horteza) Zink; two daughters, Brenda Kay, wife of Gene Lofquist; Melody Ann Collier; brothers, Barry, husband of Terry Zink; Jim, husband of Julie Zink; Samuel Zink; sister, Anna, Mae, wife of Arthur Heiland; nine grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Stephanie, Benjamin, Jonathan and David Zink; Jason and Eric Quinn and Anthony Collier; ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lou Zink and siblings, Raymond, George, Harry, Ed, Donald, John, Richard, Dorothy Jean and Mary Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be at the Columbia U.M. Church, 510 Walnut St., Columbia PA 17512 on Saturday, December 22, 2018 promptly at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Grubbs, officiating. Entombment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may view at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elmer's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster PA 17603 or at www.heart.org.

Gary L. Weber, Sr.

Gary L. Weber, Sr., 70, of Columbia passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Hospice and Community care. He was the husband of the late Linda Price Weber with whom he was married 41 years until her death in 2007.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lewis H. and Ruth Murphy Weber.

Gary was an avid Penn State fan and cheered for the New York Jets. He enjoyed fishing at the river with his children and spent hours sitting out on his patio laughing and reminiscing with family. He looked forward to his trips to Tennessee to visit friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Gary’s companion was his 20-year-old kitty “Tiffy.” Gary was a man of faith and greeted everyone he met with “God Bless You.”

He is survived by his children, Mary Beth Weber; Sharon wife of Wayne Brooks; Ruthie Weber; Gary L. Jr. husband of Bobbie Jo Weber; Lewis Weber husband of Amy Creasy; 26 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Crawford and Thelma Fischer. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Wayne Meredith; Meredith Rose and sister Linda Bair.

A funeral service will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St. Columbia PA on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Freet, officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary’s memory may be made to the V.F.W Post 2435, 401 Manor St. Columbia PA 17512.

David P. "Smitty" Smith, Sr., 60, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Until the time of his illness, he was employed for many years as a machine operator at Anvil Inc. in Columbia. He was a member of the 521 Club and enjoyed extreme HO motorcycle riding.

He is survived by his children, Steven L. Smith; Brandy L. wife of Victor Ihenyen; Tiffany A. Smith and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David P. Smith, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St. Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Joan A. Wike, 81, of Lancaster, died December 12, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard W. and Henrietta Leschke Blankenmeyer. She was the wife of George H. “Jock” Wike with whom she married on April 27, 1963.

Joan graduated from LCHS in 1956 and attended both St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church’s. She retired from the former AT&T Telephone Company, Lancaster and was a member of the 7th Ward Social Club.

In addition to her husband is a brother, Dennis R. Blankenmeyer. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard C. and Charles W. Blankenmeyer.

A graveside service will be held in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia PA on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony Swamy, officiating.
