Tom, 69, son of Isabel and Merhl Kirchner, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024.

Born in Columbia, he graduated from Columbia High School and Mount Joy Vo-Tech School in 1973, and earned a plumbing license at the Keystone chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors school. Pipefitting with Herr & Sacco served as the majority of Tom’s career, but he also volunteered as both an EMT and a firefighter for the Mount Joy Fire Department. His lifelong interest in football propelled him to coach at various levels of the Donegal program, and he was inducted into Columbia High School’s athletic hall of fame for his contribution to the undefeated 1970 team. Tom served as sacristan and extraordinary minister at Mary, Mother of the Church parish, and he advanced to fourth-degree membership in the Knights of Columbus.

Known for his lightheartedness and wit, Tom was a diligent worker and an eager Samaritan. He was devoted to his wife, active with his children, dedicated to his granddaughters, and unflappable in times of crisis. He was a good man in a storm.

Tom is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Mark. He is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughter, Erin, wife of Lyle Davis; his son, Joshua, husband of Kristina Kirchner; two granddaughters, McKenna and Raelynn; and his brother, Eugene, husband of Patricia Kirchner.
