Richard P. Mazzur
March 30, 1934 – May 29, 2026

Richard P. Mazzur, 92, passed away on May 29, 2026. Kind. Humble. Sincere. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who leaves behind the loving family he built.

He was the devoted husband of Henrietta Mazzur (Merring) since August 21, 1954.

Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, Richard was the son of the late Frank C. Mazzur and Dorothy Mazzur (Andrews). He graduated from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, New Jersey, in 1952, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University in 1956. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Dix, New Jersey, from 1956 to 1959.

Richard spent the majority of his professional career as a Senior Research Scientist at Armstrong Cork Company, where he worked from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. During his time there, he played an instrumental role in developing Med-N-Tech flooring used in operating rooms, as well as Crosswalk flooring.

A lifelong lover of music, Richard played the saxophone and clarinet in his high school band, The Stardusters, and later in college with The Starliners. In Lancaster, he shared his passion through performances with the Bob Troxel Big Big Jazz Band, The Malta Band, The Sound of Roses, and a Dixieland band. He served as director of the Malta Band for 25 years and, in later years, both played in and directed the Lancaster Senior Orchestra.

Richard was also a dedicated woodworker. He created many handcrafted features in the Millersville home where he raised his children, including the original picket fence, and continued his craft in his West Ridge home, producing many beautiful works.

He is survived by his children: Susan N. Baker of Lititz (husband Lawrence), Richard F. Mazzur of Willow Street (wife Elaine), Andrew A. Mazzur of Millersville, and Elizabeth (Lisa) Rossi of Millersville (husband Donald). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue.
