The family will receive friends at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA 17512 on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. There will be no viewing at the church prior to the funeral Mass.
Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery Columbia, PA.
Joseph S. Seibert, 74, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2026, comforted by his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Cupples Seibert.
A lifelong resident of Lancaster County and native of Columbia Pennsylvania, Joe was an avid golfer, loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, lover of music, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many.
Joe was the fourth born son to the late Robert and Ethel (Flick) Seibert. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School and Columbia High School where he competed in track, basketball, and football. He continued his football career at Bloomsburg University. After graduation, he taught earth science in the Elizabethtown and Hempfield School Districts. Additionally, he coached football, basketball, and track, and even after his formal coaching positions ended, he continued to volunteer, impact, and share his experience with many along the way.
After teaching, Joe transitioned into pharmaceutical sales and retired after having a successful award-winning career.
He had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and raising German Shorthaired Pointers. He and his dogs traveled all over North America searching for the best hunts imaginable.
He enjoyed golfing with his various golf groups and played all the way up to his last days.
Joe was a music fan like no other. His self-described favorite genre was Philadelphia soul. He collected music over the years and ran a Facebook page, Rendezvous for Happy Hearts, where he promoted long forgotten local musicians.
Watching his granddaughters compete in their sports and extracurricular activities was one of his favorite pastimes.
Joe is survived by his wife and his children, Jered Seibert (Tracy), Jill Burk (Adam) and his granddaughters, Hannah and Mary. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob and Jim (Sue), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, George, and sister-in-laws, Kit and Peg, and his niece, Megan.
His family knows he’s golfing with his deceased lifelong friends and watching down on them from above. They wish to express their deepest gratitude and most sincere appreciation to Dr. Hosur and the Green team at Ann Barshinger Cancer Institute, along with the caring medical professionals at the infusion department that treated Joe over the last 2 years. Special thanks to the supportive staff at Hospice & Community Care who provided expertise and comfort during Joe’s end of life.
To honor Joe’s love of sports and hunting, the family welcomes memorial donations to Columbia Boys Athletic Association, Columbia Education Foundation, or the Izaak Walton League.
