Sister Jean Marie Landis, 100 years and 6 months, as she was fond of saying, a resident at St Anne's Retirement Community, Columbia, PA, died late Thursday, Oct 29, 2026 at Lancaster General Hospital. Sister Jean Marie was a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC), US Region for 81 years.

Sister Jean was born in Marietta, PA to the late Earl and Elizabeth (Flanagan) Landis, on April 24, 1926. Sister entered the Adorers, in Columbia, PA in August of 1943, made first profession in 1945 and Perpetual Vows August 1955. Her active years of ministry included teaching primary grades in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, followed by years of nursing and Clinical Pastoral Care at St Anne's Retirement Community until her retirement in 2006.

Sister Jean Marie's request was not to have a long, specific listing of her life and apostolic ministries. She said, "I only did what God asked, with the help of the community and friends, and that's enough to be said for someone of my age!" Even until her last days, she was determined to stay engaged with life, taking a kind interest in the life and concerns of the staff and residents with whom she lived. There was a very gentle and easy-going way about her while at the same time being strongly (stubbornly!) independent. She was always grateful for the many kindnesses of St Anne's Personal Care Staff including the dining room servers and housekeepers.

Sister's religious community, Adorers of the Blood of Christ, her many faithful cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends will remember her as a gracious and grateful presence; and for her resilience and prayerfulness. Everyone enjoyed her sense of humor and her delight in the simple things, her 'mice collection,' the beauty of nature, clouds, breezes, flowers, birds and all things chocolate.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St Anne's Retirement Community, in Columbia, PA, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM followed by a private internment at the Sisters Cemetery.
