Elizabeth Mary "Buzzi" Kreider, 93, formerly of Lititz, passed away peacefully on May 28 at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg, Centre County. Born in Columbia, Lancaster County, in 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Misel) Buzzendore. A proud graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1951, Elizabeth carried throughout her life the warmth, resilience and strong family values that defined her generation.
Elizabeth first married Robert C. Strickler in 1955, and together they welcomed their daughter, Kathy Sue Shelley of State College, formerly of Columbia. Elizabeth worked her entire career in federal service, first in the Civilian Personnel Office at the Transportation Corp Depot in Marietta; and then 30 years at the New Cumberland Army Depot. There she met the love of her life, Dale B. Kreider. They wed in 1981 and shared a devoted marriage filled with companionship. They marked 45 years this past Valentine’s Day. Dale preceded her in death on February 17.
Elizabeth was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church in Columbia and lived her life with quiet kindness, steady faith and deep devotion to her family. Elizabeth was rarely without a book or not immersed in a thousand-piece puzzle. She adored cats, enjoyed playing Bingo, and loved traveling to the beach and shore. For many years, she and Dale spent winters in Venice, FL, where she enjoyed long walks, attending shows and playing card games with friends and family. In her earlier years, she was a competitive bowler.
Above all, Elizabeth treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Dale were a constant and loving presence at their many milestones and celebrations.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Shelley; her grandchildren: Jessica Loker (Mark), Michael Shelley (Leah), and Katie Armold (Derrick); and beloved great-grandchildren: Eliza, Evelyn, Mason, Noa, Gabe, Miles and Zoey. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Buzzendore of Columbia and Paul Buzzendore of Elizabethtown. And by her stepchildren, Gail Anne Daullary (David) and David Dale Kreider (Barbara); her step-grandchildren, David D. Daullary (Pamela), Karli Joye Zug (David M.), and Kaci Lorraine Marschall (Michael W.); and her step-great-grandchildren, Jamie Jake, Emilia Lynn, Henry David, Rosalyn Ann and Theodore David. In addition to her parents and husband Dale, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Buzzendore, Jr. and her step-grandson Mark John Daullary.
A private graveside service for family and friends will be held at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, 845 Laurel Hill Rd, Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
