Richard Michael Gable
Rick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being on the Susquehanna and also hunting.
Richard Michael Gable, 79, of Columbia passed away on July 14, 2026. He was born in Lancaster to the late Marvin and Mary Jelley Gable and was a lifelong resident of this area. Rick was a graduate of Hempfield High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and worked with the Iron Workers Union until his retirement. He was a member of the Foresters’ of America – Columbia and the Columbia Borough Fire Department 80 (Hambones). He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being on the Susquehanna and also hunting. Rick was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who loved his family.
Rick leaves behind two daughters Lisa, wife of Ryan Sload of Marietta, Kristy, wife of Erik Albright of Columbia; four grandsons Tyler, Parker, Mason, and Liam; three siblings Barbara Gable of Owings Mills, MD, Mark, husband of Dianna Gable of Little River, SC, Ken Gable of Carlisle; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Tom Gable.
