Betty Kloidt, 89, of Columbia, PA passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019.

Betty was born on September 22, 1929 in Warren, Ohio. Her family moved to Columbia in 1934 at which time they became members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Louise Prugar, and the wife of the late William Kloidt, Sr. who passed away in May 2009 after celebrating 59 years of marriage.

A sister, Marian and a brother, Larry preceded her in death.

Betty was a kind and loving person to all those with whom she came in contact and was always complimentary.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Columbia High School.

In 1973 she and her husband started Kloidt's Flower Shoppe. The shop was a staple on Locust Street in downtown Columbia for many years. She made many friends and acquaintances at the shop and years later she would come in contact with her former customers who recalled Betty arranging their wedding flowers or prom flowers.

The shop also sponsored a men's and a women's softball team in the late 70's and 80's. In 1990 Bill and Betty were awarded a lifetime membership in the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Betty is survived by her son, Bill Jr., and daughter-in-law, Donna Cremer; her daughter, Mary Louise Meyers; grandchildren: Gretchen Sargen (Sean), Elizabeth Smith (Tim) and Will Meyers and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Liam Sargen and Lillie, Nolan and Mason Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia with Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to Holy Trinity Church, Building Maintenance Fund, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512 or to the Columbia Borough Fire Department, PO BOX 426, Columbia, PA 17512.
