Barry L. Herchelroath

Barry was a skilled pool player having played in multiple local Columbia and Lancaster County pool leagues.

Following a private family service, friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Barry’s Life at a reception at the Susquehanna Fire Co., Tenth & Manor Sts., Columbia PA 17512 on Friday March 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

 

Barry L. Herchelroath, 79, a lifelong Columbia resident, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Pamela Droege Herchelroath with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage this past August 4th.  Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mary Smith Herchelroath.

A Columbia High School graduate, Class of 1962, Barry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army PA National Guard for 22 years before retiring as First SGT. In addition, he was employed for over 40 years as a production worker at Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1999.

Barry was a skilled pool player having played in multiple local Columbia and Lancaster County pool leagues. He was a member of the Hambones Social Club; American Legion Post #372; L.O.O.M Lodge #307; C.W.V Post #1307; B.P.O.E #1074; Wrightsville Fish & Game; and the Mt. Prospect Rod & Gun Club.

In addition to his wife are his children, James W., husband of Krista (Smith) Herchelroath; and Krista A. Ness; granddaughters, Madison Combs (Jason); Katie Ness (Blaine Benfer); Erin Miller (Montana); Paige Herchelroath; and Jordan Musser (Tyreese); great-grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, and Evelyn; and his sister Jane Kelec. He was preceded in death by his sister Alice Bartch.
