John G. Koser, 95, formerly of 28 Gaspar Road, Columbia passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at St. Anne's Retirement Community where he had resided for the past two years. He was the husband of the late Agnes Ohrel Koser who preceded him in death in 2011.

Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late John H. and Lizzie Gipe Koser. John retired in 1984 after 30 years of service from Caterpillar where he was employed as a millwright. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his flower beds.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leroy, Ervin, Paul, Arthur, and his sister Anna Mae Bigler.

A funeral service will be held graveside in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Columbia, PA on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Augustine Joseph, officiating. Carol O'Donnell, 79, formerly of Columbia, passed away on July 5, 2022 at Penn Medicine LGH. She was the wife of the late James O'Donnell who preceded her in death in 1998. Born in Columbia she was the daughter of the late William and Rosalia Shultz.

Carol was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1960. Prior to her retirement she was employed in advertising at Armstrong World Industries and was a clerical supervisor at the Lancaster County Office of the Aging. She was a member of the Short 60's and enjoyed cooking and artistic painting.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Geiman; LeeAnne Eshelman; grandchildren, Cameron Eshelman (Lexi Weinstein); Evan Geiman (Tyler Cook); Josalyn Geiman (Devon Dombrowski) Adam Eshelman; great granddaughter Freya Eshelman; sister Janice Shultz and best friend and neighbor Bonnie Huleatt. Her brother LCpl William Shultz preceded her in death.

Mary Jane Sprecher, 94, of Manheim, known to her family and friends as "MJ" passed away to her Lord peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law's home on Friday, July 1, 2022 where she has resided for the past 25 years.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Ruth Nagle Finefrock.

Over the years, she worked at several retail stores and retired at age 82 from Save Mart after 30 years of service.

MJ loved her family with all her heart as they loved her. She loved family get togethers, listening to hymns, especially How Great Thou Art by Elvis, playing Canasta, cross-stitching and crossword puzzles along with the occasional trip to Hollywood.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda wife of David Rockstroh with whom she resided; Jere husband of Kate Carpenter, Lewes, DE; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and her kitty cat "Roamer." Her siblings, Enos, Jr., Richard, Joseph and Patricia (Grier) Finefrock preceded her in death.

Scott Allen Fry, 53, of Columbia passed away on June 24, 2022. He was born in Columbia to the Late Chester Fry and Marlene Stumpf and was a lifelong resident of Columbia. Scott was a graduate of Columbia High School and worked for many years with the Turkey Hill dairy and J.R. Transportation. He was also a longtime member of the Columbia Borough Fire Department (hambones) and loved his Steelers, Penn State, and Flyers. Scott was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who adored his family and treasured spending time with them.

Scott leaves behind his wife of thirty-two years Rebecca; his daughter, Rebecca Fry, companion of Jason; his son, Tyler Fry; five grandchildren, Ariella, Abigail, Adelia, Alexandra, and Ashton; two brothers, Steven Fry and Bobby Heagy; many cousins and friends.

Steven James Foster, 70, of Columbia passed away on June 9, 2022. He was born in Sacramento, CA to the late Watts and Jeanne Giacone Foster.

Steven was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed playing pool at Stanley’s in Marietta. He worked for many years at Armstrong World Industries. Steven adored his family who will remember him for his endearing sense of humor.

Richard E. "Dick" Horn, 97, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. He was the husband of Rita Keys Horn with whom he celebrated 75 years of marriage on May 10th. A lifelong Columbia resident, he was the son of the late John A. and Margaret Kruschinsky Horn.

Dick graduated from the former Holy Trinity Catholic School and was a 1943 graduate of Columbia High School and later served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a certified watchmaker with Hamilton Watch Company for ten years and later joined the former Motter Supply Company as store manager specializing in retail hardware and supplies. He spent most of his career at Herr & Company, Lancaster where he served in sales and management positions and eventually as President of the company. He retired from RKB Enterprises where he was Regional Sales Manager.

A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church he was a former President of the Pastor's Advisory Board and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for 24 years. He served as a lector and was a member of the Holy Name Society and was an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He served two, three-year terms as President of the Diocesan Council of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and in 1994, he was instrumental in helping to reorganize the society within the Harrisburg Diocese.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Christine H. wife of Donald L. Sylvester; Joanne H. wife of John "Bot" Roda; David R. husband of Cherie (Hart) Horn; Barbara L. wife of Kyle DiBrito; grandchildren, Katharine L. Roda, Zachary B. Roda and partner Veronica Jancuk, Sandy wife of Bryan Delahunty, Marcus DiBrito and fiance Michelle Huth; great grandson, Luka James. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John P. Horn, Cletus J. Horn, Ruth Shenberger, Julia M. Divet and Elanor J. Eckert.

Joan L. Fry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Elva Hinkle of Wrightsville, PA.  Joan lived most of her life in Columbia, PA and retired from St Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, PA.  She was a member of the Wrightsville Assembly of God in Wrightsville, PA.

Joan loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed working on puzzles and joking with the staff and other residents of Kelly Manor SpiritTrust Lutheran.

Joan is survived by her children Joseph husband of Antoinette (Deascenti) Fry of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Sharon wife of David Strandberg of Athol, ID and James husband of Megan (Forney) Fry of Red Lion, PA.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Nicole Hornreich, Ryan and Justin Fry, and her great grandchildren Bria and Ayden Hornreich.  She is also survived by her brother Rick husband of Mary (Scantling) Hinkle and her sisters Debra wife of John Jacobs, and Sue wife of Dan Peters.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy and her brothers Edgar Jr., Eugene, and Larry.

There will be a public visitation starting at 10:00am with the funeral service at 11:00am on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA.  Interment will take place immediately after the service at Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville, PA.

Heather Renee Gower, 32, of Washington Boro, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Maria & Brian Kanach of Boyertown and Dennis & Monica Gower of Canton. 

At the time of her death, Heather was employed by Johnson Controls as an industrial technician. She was a graduate of Millersville University where she played rugby and after graduation coached the Millersville Women’s Rugby Team. She was a member of the Blue Rock Fire and Rescue Company and the American Legion Post 34. Heather loved river life along with fishing and duck hunting.

Mary Lou Lawson, 82, of Columbia passed away on June 10, 2022. She was born in Columbia to the late Amos B. and Helen C. (Hartman) Murry and was a lifelong resident of Columbia. Mary Lou was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School with the Class of 1958 where she was a member of the Sewing and Library Clubs. She worked at Schick until they closed in 1981. She then had her own craft business for the next fourteen years; her wreaths can still be seen around Columbia. Mary Lou was always proud of the way she kept her lawn and gardens, and her home beautiful. She was an avid dog lover and adored her Airedale Terriers, Ashley, Max, and Tucker. Mary Lou was a lifelong and faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of Fifty-eight years, Thomas Lawson; two children, Michael M., husband of Carole Lawson, Tracy L., wife of James Yeand; four grandchildren, Ryan and Kelly Lawson, Mark and Jessica Yeand; one sister Anne Gerz, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by a Sister, Holly Oatman, and a brother, Harold "Brumpie" Murry.,

Teresa M. O'Donnell, 62, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 surrounded by her family at Hospice and Community Care. A lifelong Columbia resident, she was the daughter of James H. Wagner, Columbia and the late Mary Elizabeth McCarty Wagner.

Teri dedicated her life and her heart to teaching, receiving a B.S. in Early Education/Early Childhood from Shippensburg University. After impacting students at St. Peter's Catholic School, Churchill County School District in Nevada, Manheim Central School District, and Holy Trinity Catholic School, Teri spent the majority of her career at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School.

Whether in the classroom or at home, her door was always open. She welcomed anyone who needed an ear to listen, food to eat, or a place to sleep.

With her family, Teri was the life of the party, bringing games, music, and positivity to holidays and vacations. These memories will last forever. As a mother, Teri's love was unmatched and unwavering.

In addition to her father are her children, Kelly O'Donnell, Philadelphia; Tim O'Donnell, McConnellsburg; sisters, Beth wife of Scott Barnhart, York; Lisa wife of Mark Graham, Lancaster; Barbara wife of Paul Patterson, Wayne, NJ; and brother Jim husband of Lori Wagner, Lancaster.

Ronald G. Baldner, 80, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Born in St. Thomas, PA, he was the son of the late Milton and Rhoda (Breckbill) Baldner. He was the loving husband of Julie (Mountz) Baldner, with whom he celebrated 15 years of marriage on February 24. 

Ron graduated from St. Thomas High School, class of 1960. His first job was at Turkey Hill Dairy before going to work as a truck driver for Motor Freight in York then eventually moving on to Southern Container. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing up in Perry County and smoking his pipe and cigars. He loved animals, especially his cats. He bravely fought and won the battle against cancer in his younger years. Ron will be remembered for being a kind, generous, and giving person and he will be missed greatly. 

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Shawn Baldner (Pomice), of Lancaster; stepson, Stanley Singer (Alyssa); stepdaughter, Sevannah Singer Heiser (Eddie); grandchildren, Zoey Stoltzfus, Ronnie Baldner, Katie Singer, Reilly Singer, Dawson Singer, Tanisha White, Nathan White, Devon Echternach; brothers, Kenneth Baldner, of St. Thomas, PA; Glen Baldner, of MI; close friend, Randy Huber, Sr., of Columbia. James Robert Smoker, II, of Columbia passed away on May 31, 2022. He was born in Columbia to the late James and Leatha Smoker and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Known as “Jim Bob” to his family and Jim or “Smoke” to everyone else who knew him, he was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1962 and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret with the Special Forces. Following his service, he worked with the former United Telephone/Sprint until his eventual retirement. Jim loved his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, whom he adored above anything else and treasured spending time with them. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed all of nature and the outdoors. Jim had many hobbies like cooking, woodworking, and making knives as gifts for others. He was a proud and active member of the Vet 21 Salute Honor Guard.

Jim leaves behind his wife of twenty-three years, Joyce Smoker of Columbia; his daughter, Maren, wife of Patrick Crucitt of Broadview Heights, OH; three grandchildren, Katie, Claire, and Caroline Crucitt; three sisters, Melanie, wife of Keith Skotnicki of York, Eileen, wife of the late Dennis Scion of Friendsville, TX, Beth, wife of David McGrath of Mooresville, NJ; “adopted sorta son”, Kevin Traister of Mountville. Glenn D. White, 68, of Columbia, passed way on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the son of the late Ira M. and Charlotte (Kroft) White.

Glenn was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Class of 1973. He worked as a material handler for over 17 years for K-D Tool, Co.

Services will be private for Glenn.

To know Harold was to be welcomed as a life-long friend. He knew no strangers. Harold loved many things but love for his Lord and Savior, his family, friends and music were at the top of the list.

Memorial Service: Mount Joy Mennonite Church on June 25, 2022

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Harold K. Yoder, Landisville, PA, went to be present with his Lord at the age of 90. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many.

He was born on March 29, 1932, in Barto, PA, to Henry and Elizabeth Yoder. Harold was married to Ruth (Ruthie) Miller Yoder from 1956 until her passing in 2002 and is survived by his wife, Josephine (Jodi) Hartzell Yoder, who he married in 2005.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth, his son, Kent, and his brother, Henry Paul Yoder.

Harold is survived by his children, Kevin Yoder and wife Carole, Kathy Shaheen and husband Thomas, Kristopher Yoder and wife Joyce, stepson, Matthew Hartzell and his partner Jessica Ashman, daughter-in-law, Janelle Yoder, nine grandchildren - Josh Yoder, Joy Talleksen and husband Rob, Joanna Hill and husband Tim, Emily Kreps and husband Gabriel, Elya Shaheen, Luke Shaheen, Seth Shaheen and wife Holly, Noah and Jemma Yoder and step-grandson, Nolan Hartzell, three great-grandchildren - Judah and Sonja Kreps and Owen Tallaksen, his brothers, Ray Yoder, Roy Yoder, Rich Yoder and his wife, Rachel, and his sister, June Shenk and husband Nelson, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In 1958, Harold brought his family to Easton, PA, where he worked for various delivery companies until becoming a milkman for Stocker Brothers Dairy for 13.5 years. He delivered milk, a cheerful “good morning” and was often heard whistling while he worked. He sang for many years with the Franconia Choral Singers, performing Handel’s Messiah every year. He was a wonderful “band parent” following his children around on trips with the EAHS Marching Band. In 1979, Harold moved from Easton to Spruce Lake Retreat, Canadensis, PA, and was the Maintenance Director until he retired.

To know Harold was to be welcomed as a life-long friend. He knew no strangers. Harold loved many things but love for his Lord and Savior, his family, friends and music were at the top of the list.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM June 25 at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Rd, Mount Joy, PA 17552. The family will greet family and friends from 12:30 - 1:30 PM Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to:

John enjoyed the outdoors and adored his family who will remember him for his smile and endearing sense of humor.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.

John William Kramer, 83, of Marietta passed away on June 3, 2022. He was born in Bainbridge, raised in Maytown, and was the son of the late David and Florence Steffy Kramer.

John worked at ITT Grinnell in Columbia until his eventual retirement. He was also an avid buyer and seller of antiques and even had his own store in Marietta. John enjoyed the outdoors and adored his family who will remember him for his smile and endearing sense of humor.

John leaves behind his two daughters, Kim, wife of Chuck Brehm of York, Jean, wife of Spencer Schemel of Lititz; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Rosemary, on April 30, 2022. Also, preceding John are four siblings, Frank Kramer, Wallace Kramer, Pearl Barton, and Elizabeth Jamil.

Services for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Celebration of Life: Columbia Crossings Riverdeck, Saturday June 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Peggy A. Lewis, 70, of Columbia, passed away on May 22, 2022 at Penn Medicine LGH. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Harold F. and Mildred Evans Yohe.

A homemaker, she attended the Wrightsville Assembly of God and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for putting others before herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather R. wife of Jonathan Heiland, Wrightsville; grandchildren, Devon, Julius, Landon, Samantha, and Jessica Yohe; adopted son, Steve husband of Samantha Yohe; best friend William Lewis; brother Gene Yohe; sisters Ruth Nace, Linda Wood and Bev Barnett. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Getz, Elwood Yohe, Richard Yohe, James Yohe and Rose Yohe.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Columbia Crossings on the Riverdeck, Saturday June 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

James L. Schlotthauer, 79, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at ManorCare. He was the husband of the late Faye Kline Schlotthauer with whom he was married 42 years until her death in 2004. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Abram and Dorothy Yentzler Schlotthauer.

Jim retired as the branch manager of the former Central Savings & Loan, Columbia and was a member of the Susquehanna Fire Company.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory J. Schlotthauer, Columbia; Stephen J. Schlotthauer, Brunswick, GA and three grandchildren, Rylee, Owen and Landen.
