Rose Marie Wolpert Smaling, rejoined her mother, father, brothers and sisters in heaven on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Rose was born in Columbia, PA and called the town home for most of her 91 years.

Among the joys in her life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were certainly the dearest, and she was fortunate to have 12 of the former and 23 of the latter. She also enjoyed visits from her children and is survived by; Bernadette, George, Jim, Cathy, and John.

Rose also loved to read books, do crossword puzzles, had an insatiable sweet tooth, and could spend hours walking the aisles of gift shops and antique stores, enthusiastically inspecting every item she could lay hands on. She was also a hopeless impulse buyer of just about anything displayed and brightly packaged at every checkout line in Lancaster County!

Born into a large Wolpert family, parented by George and Helen, Rose shared her childhood with 9 siblings and they all remained very close throughout their respective lives. Deceased are sisters; Mary, Veronica, Jean, and Helen and brothers; Joe, George, Ken, and Larry. Her last surviving sister, Dolores, is 95 years old.

A memorial service will be held at the Clyde Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Matthew Bowden, 28, of Mount Joy passed away on August 12th, 2021. He was born in Reading to Cindy Walker Gamber and the late David M. Bowden. Matt attended Hempfield High School. He enjoyed music and was talented with his writing and playing guitar. Matt enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking and fishing, especially with his son Dylan. He will also be missed for his smart wit and sense of humor. Matt was a loving father, son, brother and friend who was adored by his family. Although he was taken too soon, he has gifted us with many beautiful memories to hold on to.

Matt leaves behind his mother and step-father, Cindy, wife of Michael Gamber of Mount Joy; his son whom he adored, Dylan Matthew Bowden; his siblings, Logan Bowden, Travis Bowden, Starla Martin, Schuyler Gamber, Kendl, wife of Matt Brandyberry; nieces and nephews, Briar Steberger, Ophelia Martin, Arabella Bowden, Morgan Gamber, Myles Gamber, Rowan Brandyberry; sister-in-law, Brandy Lowe; best friend and companion Mary Rose Zekany; maternal grandfather, Donald Walker; maternal grandmother, Virginia, wife of James Cullum; paternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Wiand; canine companion, Marley. Deborah Jeanne Cannon, 70, of 16 North Fifth St., Columbia, PA, passed away on August 9, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the lifelong companion of Richard Poindexter who preceded her in death in 2005. Born in Columbia on January 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late William G. Cannon and Annie R. Farley. 

Deborah was a graduate of Columbia High School and McCann School of Business in Scranton, PA, where she obtained her associates degree. She worked as a teacher's aide for Kinderhook Daycare and as a funeral attendant at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Columbia, PA. Jeanne was lively and loved to have fun in life. She enjoyed music, going to Casinos, and was a huge fan of the New York Giants. Above all, she cherished her family. 

Deborah is survived by her son, Terry Farley, boyfriend of Christina Sauls, of Alpharetta, GA; her granddaughter, Teanna Farley, of Boston, MA; her great granddaughter, Brooklyn Farley, of Boston, MA; her godson, Kurt Edmond; her sisters, Jochebet Farley and Terrie Edmond, both of Columbia, PA; her brother, Jeffrey Cannon, of Lancaster, PA; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Melvin Cannon, Gardner Cannon, Charles Farley, Linda Farley, Catherine Jones, Walter Farley, Larry Farley, Michael Cannon, Anthony Cannon, Kevin Cannon, and Alex “Joe” Farley.

Edward D. Cornelius, 78, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. He was the husband of Alma Murry Cornelius with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late Dean J. and Hilda Robinson Cornelius.

He was employed for over 40 years as an auto mechanic at Heisler's Auto Sales and at Automotive Service Repair, both in York, retiring in 2015. Ed had a passion for cars and trucks, both repairing and restoring them. He was most proud of his "Creamsicle" truck for which he won many trophies and ribbons at the car shows he participated in. He was an avid bowler and bowled in the Leisure Lanes Tuesday Night Men's League for over 50 years. Ed also enjoyed sitting on his front porch and tending to his small garden.

In addition to his wife are his children, Shelly, wife of Wayne Kreiser; Edward S., companion of Sharon McClary; two grandchildren, Megan and Rachel Kreiser; great-grandson, Benjamin Lutz; sister, Nancy D., wife of Terry Hower and a brother, Darrell A. Cornelius. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Esther D. Long, Terry L. Cornelius and Daniel Z. Cornelius.

Esther D. Albright, 93, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Oak Leaf Manor North where she had briefly resided. She was the wife of the late Harold C. Albright with whom she was married 61 years until his death in 2009. A lifelong resident of Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Louise Demy Dombach.

She was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1946. A homemaker, she helped her husband in his contracting business.

Esther embraced life. She loved her church and her God. She enjoyed shopping and loved the Christmas season. She loved her family and friends and put much effort into making sure she was a good role model for everybody she came across.

Esther is survived by her loving family, Jane L. wife of Glenn P. Murry; Valerie A. wife of David J. Rhoads; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Hoak and siblings, Richard D. Dombach, Ella Louise Kile and Ruth Weigel.

Funeral services will be held from the Columbia U.M. Church, 510 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Monday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Grubbs, officiating. He loved people and enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Majella Y. Graham, 80, of York passed away on July 31st, 2021. She was born in York to the late Edward Dietz and Mamie Leiphart and was a lifelong resident of this area. Majella was a graduate of Eastern York High School with the Class of 1959 and worked as an administrative assistant at Worship Center for a number of years. Majella and her husband Jack ministered for many years to the people in the streets of Baltimore and York. She loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart for her family, friends, and community. She was a prayer warrior and volunteered her time with the Manna Project through Gateway Church in York. Majella adored her family and treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Majella leaves behind four daughters, Angela, wife of Brian Brooks of York, Adele, wife of Stephen Keul of Dillsburg, Adrienne, wife of Woodrow Armold of Marietta, Jackie, wife of Steven Rinkavage of Imperial Beach, CA; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Graham in 2014, one great grandchild, and four siblings.

Doug, who was a semi-pro hockey player in Canada, instilled the love of the game in his two boys

Douglas Murray Campbell of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday, July 30th, 2021 at Susquehanna Health and Wellness Center following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. 

Doug was born to Forrest and Winifred Campbell in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Campbell, his sister, Beverly Earle, his brother, Wayne Campbell, his son, Roger L. Campbell, three stepchildren, Stephen, Kevin and Robert Brown, five grandchildren, five step grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by his two other children, Nancy L. Kratzer and Alan B. Campbell. 

Doug’s career in the power tool industry brought him from Canada to the United States in 1965.  Doug, who was a semi-pro hockey player in Canada, instilled the love of the game in his two boys. He always found time to coach and referee his kids’ youth hockey teams and watch Philadelphia Flyers games together despite his extensive business travel. He played the sport well into his sixties, once teaming up for a multi-generational match with his son and grandson. 

He settled in Lancaster, PA in 1979, where he founded Lancaster Machinery Company in 1986. Doug also started a regional chain of woodworking supply stores with his sons and had a successful career in real estate. In retirement, Doug’s true calling came when he and his wife Mary joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA, where they were forever changed by their faith. Doug became immersed in and took a leadership role in the Alpha Program, traveling and training other leaders throughout the northeast. He became known as the “Head Alpha” in the region. Doug later introduced the program into the Lancaster County prison system, guiding both men and women, where it continues to this day.  

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 4:00PM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. Christopher Michael Barton, Jr., 28, of Columbia and formerly of North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2021. He was born in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C. Christopher was a graduate of Red Lion High School and attended YTI for Culinary classes as he loved to cook for everyone. Christopher worked for a few pizza restaurants over the years. He loved and adored his dog, Krink, his family, and his friends. 

Christopher leaves behind his son, Christopher Michael Barton, III., of Dallastown; his brother and fiancée Cameron M Barton & Jacqueline Crawford both of Lancaster, a niece Leyna Renee;  his sister, Chelsea M. Barton, of Columbia; his parents, Christopher M. Barton, Sr and Christina M. Barton, both of Columbia; his uncle and aunt, Dustin and Heather Ramsden, and three cousins, Shawn, Donte, and Aaron, all of North Carolina; his uncle and aunt, Todd and Minday Eisenhaur, cousins, Brianna Kriner with Aubree and Aaralyn, and Cody Kriner, all of Columbia. Christopher also has many other aunts, uncles, and cousins of Manheim and Brogue PA, his grandfather, Richard Willis “Pa-Pa” of Brogue. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy P. Willis. Margaret E. Mowrer, 95, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late Reuben B. Mowrer with whom she was married 62 years until his death in 2016. Born in Marietta, she was the daughter of the late George F., Sr. and Edna Nace Reuter.

Marg retired after 25 years of service from Wyeth Laboratories (GSK) where she worked as a lab technician. She later worked parttime at Hempfield High School and Manheim Auto Auction where she was employed in food services. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed shopping and traveling with her sisters and family, playing cards and enjoyed tending to her garden and rose bushes.

She is survived by her son, Craig R. Mowrer; grandchildren, Nicole E. Zimmerman, John M. husband of Cathy Mowrer; great-grandchildren, Alana, Tyler, Casey; sisters, Irene Strube Engle, Violet Liphart and Shirley Roberts. She was preceded in death by her siblings, George "Frank" Reuter, Jr., Paul A. Reuter, Sr., Jean Siegrist and Edna Hosfeld.

Born in West Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ella Bard Mowrer. A devoted wife and mother to her family, she worked for a time earlier in her life at Donegal Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Elizabeth was a 75 year member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marietta. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, doing all types of puzzles, watching sports and game shows on TV and vacationing in the mountains with her family.

She is survived by her children, Larry S. husband of Pamela Houck; Paul H. Houck; Robert A. husband of Julie Houck; Gail L. Houck; Mary Ann wife of Scott Eshleman; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and sister, Miriam Swingler. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry L. Houck and siblings Stella Baker, Mary Mummaw, Mildred Lindenmuth, Earl, Paul, Reuben, Esther, Melvin and Hiram Mowrer.

“Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way.” Harry J. Feltenberger, Jr, 76, of Wrightsville passed away on July 17th, 2021. He was born in Columbia to the late Harry, Sr. and Mildred Wasche Feltenberger and was a lifelong resident of this area. Harry was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School with the Class of 1963. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps where he did two tours of duty in Vietnam and visited over fifty countries. Following his service, Harry worked for Armstrong World Industries from 1970 until his retirement in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the Bear Paw Rod and Gun Club and various American Legion’s, VFW’s, and Knights of Columbus. Harry was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he was a special minister and active in the choir. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, small farmer, and card player who also raised beagles and made the best sauerkraut. Harry adored his family and treasured spending time with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Harry leaves behind four children, Heidi, wife of Matt Samms, Greta Rudacille, Erica Feltenberger, spouse of Brandy Gerstenberg, Hank, husband of Denise Feltenberger; two siblings, Kathleen, wife of Leo Lutz, Thomas, husband of Debbie Feltenberger; seven grandchildren, Katie, wife of LeKross, Tristin, Charlie, husband of Maddie, Ian, Harry 4, Olivia, Aiden; three great grandchildren, Kara, Christian, and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 2017.

Leah E. "Sis" Crumbling, 80, formerly of Wrightsville, passed away on July 15, 2021 at the Mennonite Home where she had resided for the past three years. She was the wife of Rodney W. "Del" Crumbling, Sr., her husband of 55 years. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Sr. and Alice Mann Ackerman.

Sis retired in 2006 after 20 years of service as an inspector from the former Campbell Chain Company in York. A member of the Washington Boro U.M. Church, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, traveling, especially to the beach, cooking, spending time with her family, and doting on her grand and great-grandchildren. She was an avid church goer and was loved by all those that knew her.

In addition to her husband, her children, Rodney W. "Pudge" Jr. (Ava Rodriguez); Brian W. Crumbling (Lori Houser); Julie, wife of David Leschke; grandchildren, Amber, Cody, Kevin, Blake, Brooke, Kari, Lee, Avian, Talim, Rayli; great-grandchildren, Faith, Alex, Ben and Sarah[P1] ; brothers, Wayne Ackerman (Maxine); Wilson "Wis" Ackerman, Jr. (Carol) also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda "Lyn" Schwartz and her siblings, John, Bob, Gene and Denise Ackerman.

Funeral services will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Carlene Wolf, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville, PA. Family and friends may view at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cool Creek Golf Course Club House beginning at 3:30 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions to the Washington Boro U.M. Elizabeth “Betty” Rineer, 72, of Millsboro, DE and formerly of Columbia passed away on July 8th, 2021. She was born in Utica, NY to the late Harry and Mary Warner Gable. Betty was a graduate of Columbia High School and worked for many years at QVC before her retirement. She loved the beach, so much so that she moved to Millsboro to be close to the water. Betty enjoyed reading and being outdoors where she could take in the birds and people watch. She was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. Betty adored her family and friends and treasured spending time with them, especially her grand and great grandchildren.

Betty leaves behind her children, Dawn, wife of Michael Blessing of Wrightsville, Nicole Paris, companion of Deron Mutzabaugh of Millsboro, DE, Christopher, husband of Amy Minnich of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Ryan, Harlie, Mackenzie; six great grandchildren, Paisley, Bowman, Izabella, Addyson, Jackson, Kenneth; three sisters, Tina, wife of Robert Frutiger of Red Lion, Connie, wife of Al Trimble of Tucson, AZ, Bonnie, wife of Morris Bish of Wrightsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Rineer in 2013.

A visitation to celebrate Betty will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. She will be laid to rest by her late husband at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens on a later date. Stella LaVerne Shultz Reichley, 96, of Quarryville passed away on July 1st, 2021. She was born in Honey Brook Township to the late George and Mabel Shultz. Stella was a graduate of Honey Brook High School and worked for 41 years at the former RCA. She enjoyed camping and traveling to places including Gettysburg, the Poconos, and Muddy Run. 

Stella was the last of her immediate family and in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband James Reichley in 1974 and two siblings, George Schultz and Catherine Yoder.

Services for Stella will be held promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 12th, 2021 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. There will be no formal visitation. Holly Ann Rider, 45, of Windsor, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care. She was the wife of Worden L. Rider with whom she was married 12 years. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Ed and Bonnie Ross Brown.

Holly was employed as a CNA for various nursing homes including ManorCare, Elizabethtown, St. Anne’s Retirement Community, Pleasant Acres, Hershey Mill Home and was an in-home caregiver with Comfort Keepers. She enjoyed cross stich, diamond painting and crocheting. She will be remembered as a good hearted person who loved her fur baby Joey and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, parents and fur baby Joey are her siblings, Jeannie R. Brown and her companion Paul Wenig, Jr and David E., Sr. husband of Amy Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private funeral service will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. Columbia PA at the convenience of the family. Holly will be laid to rest in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. SSG Ret. William G. "Sonny" McSharry, 79, of Bainbridge, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Pamela Worall McSharry with whom he was married 29 years. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late William G. and Josephine Detweiler.

A graduate of Donegal High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. For his courageous actions, he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with three oak clusters. He continued his service in the Army Reserves and the Pennsylvania National Guard. He retired after 32 years of service as Staff Sargent.

He was last employed by Columbia Boro as a crossing guard and parking enforcement officer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 197 and the Marietta Community Chapel.

In addition to his wife are his children, Bill, Tom, Ann, Garry and Billie Jo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and siblings, Barry, Gary and Sis.

A funeral service will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may view one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Bethel Cemetery with full military honors.

When Jim wasn't golfing with family and friends, he could be found relaxing on his boat on the Susquehanna or enjoying the sun and sand at his vacation home in Delray Beach, FL.

No public funeral service.

James Patrick "Jimmy" Yeaglin, age 65 of Wrightsville, PA, passed away in the early morning hours Saturday, June 26, 2021 after a courageous 9-month battle with pancreatic cancer. His brothers were anxiously awaiting his heavenly arrival for a 6am tee-time!

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 28 years, Kim (Hake) Yeaglin. He retired from Penn Vet Supply in 2018 after 30 years; many will also remember him from his many years of employment at Herr's Fruit Stand, Marietta, PA. Born November 8, 1955, Jim was the son of the late Paul L. and Bertha (Wargo) Yeaglin. He grew up in Mountville, PA and graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1973. Jim was one of 10 children and will be missed by his siblings: Cathy Baughman (Terry), Paul Yeaglin, Ruth Carmen (Gary), Theresa High (late Jere High), Margaret Leddy (Tom), Irene Detwiler (Mark) and sister-in-law, Sharon Yeaglin (late Gerald Yeaglin). Jim was predeceased by his brothers Gerald, William and Joseph Yeaglin.

He is also survived by his children: Heather Woods (Calvin), Mount Joy, PA and Daniel Yeaglin, South Carolina; step-children Nichole Stough (Corey) and Clint Musser, all of Maytown, PA. Grandchildren: Calvin, Tyler, Nathan, Amaya, Diavionne, Cody and Jordon.

When Jim wasn't golfing with family and friends, he could be found relaxing on his boat on the Susquehanna or enjoying the sun and sand at his vacation home in Delray Beach, FL. Not one to miss a good happy hour, Jim loved time spent socializing with his wife, children and friends at local establishments. He was a member of the Marietta American Legion Post 466, Mount Joy VFW Post 5752 and a past member of the Marietta Jaycees. Jim played in various softball leagues and organized a weekly pick-up basketball league in his younger years. He was an avid Philadelphia and Penn State sports fan, which often caused him lots of angst and heartburn.

Per Jim's wishes, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jim's memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Ronald M. Holland, 72, of Salunga, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care. He was the husband of Mildred Jasper Holland whom he married on November 9, 1979. Born in Bedford, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna Mae Hengst Holland.

Known to his family and friends as Ron, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966 thru 1969 and will be remembered for always wearing his U.S.M.C. hat. He was employed as a long-haul truck driver logging in over a million miles across the USA. He retired in 2015 from Envirite, York, PA. Ron also worked for Engle Printing part-time in his retirement until his illness. He was a supporter of Hospice and Community Care and the Make-a-Wish Foundation, participating in the annual truck convoys. In addition, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 185.

In addition to his wife are his children, Rhonda Holland; Sheila, wife of Donald Fink; stepchildren, Gregory Sherlock, Jr.; Heidi, wife of Dwayne Roth; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his sister Mary O'Donnell. His sister, Nancy Douglas preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors. There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday one hour prior to the service. Instead of flowers, Ron would request donations to Hospice and Community Care in thanks for their care or to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
