Dorothy I. Royer, 87, of Columbia passed away on June 25 th , 2019. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Curtis and Janice Powell.

Dorothy worked for many years in the bindery department of
Brookshire Printing, Lancaster. She was an avid reader and enjoyed
doing puzzles. Dorothy treasured time with her family and loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She proudly served her country during her husband’s military service having five children born in five different states.

Dorothy leaves behind her children, Katherine, wife of Robert Leaman of Columbia, Edward, Jr., husband of LuAnn Royer of Lancaster, Daniel Royer, fiancé of Leslie Detwiler of Kernersville, NC, Richard Royer of
Manheim; seven grandchildren, Renee Havrilla Rahe (Doug), Joseph Havrilla (Mandee), Phillip Havrilla (Vanessa), Susan Zeamer (Chad), Kristy Royer, Cody Rose Kellander, Traci Cornelison (Alex); thirteen
great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Royer, Sr. in 2014 and her daughter Linda Shafer (Frank) in 2004.

Services for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1 st , 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St. Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Dave was known to be laid back and hard working. He enjoyed boating, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching his Dallas Cowboys.

Dave leaves behind his wife of twenty seven years, Tina Millhouse of Columbia; his children, David Millhouse, Jr, Charles Kinard, and Tarra Christensen all of Columbia; two grandchildren; his sister, Marcella Millhouse of Columbia; his brother, Kenneth Millhouse of Maytown.

Patrick P. O'Reilly, 56, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at home. Born in and a lifelong Columbia resident, he was the son of the late James W. Sr. and Charlotte "Sis" Bransby O'Reilly.

Pat was employed for 23 years at the U.S. Lock and Hardware Company, Columbia and later at KRB Machinery. For the past few years he was the caretaker of his mother until her death on June 5, 2019.

He is survived by his brothers, James W. Jr.; Shawn B.; niece, Kelsie B. He was preceded in death by his son, Cody Campbell.

Ruth E. Nagel, 70, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care. She was the wife of Everett E. "Gene" Nagel with whom she was married 54 years. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Paris B. Sr. and Marie Brock Zink.

Ruth retired in 2011 after 30 years of service from the former Donegal Industries, Mount Joy, where she worked as a sewing machine operator. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and trips to the family cabin in Perry County. Her greatest joy was spending time with her great niece, Ally.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her niece, Esther Gantz; great niece, Allison Gantz; great nephew, Tyler Sauder; nephews Michael and Todd Hartranft, and a sister Carol Hartranft. Her son, Everett E. "Gene Jr." Nagel and brother Paris B. "Zeke" Zink, Jr. preceded her in death.

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Horn, 92, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Hospice and Community Care. She was the wife of the late Cletus J. Horn with whom she was married 53 years until his death in 2002. A lifelong Columbia resident, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. Sr. and Beata Kaufhold Roeser.

She was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia; a member of the Altar Rosary Society and a former member of the Pastor's Advisory Board, Parish Financial Committee and the Parish Archive Ministry.

Betty graduated from the former St. Joseph's Academy in 1944. She retired from the former Holy Trinity School in 1998 after 29 years of service. Her hobbies were gardening and crocheting. As a member of the Parish Shawl Committee, she crocheted over 90 shawls for shut-ins.

Betty is survived by her children, Cleta M., wife of Robert Schmitt; James C., husband of Bernadette (Nikolaus) Horn; Michael A. Horn; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one coming in November; siblings, Carl J. Roeser, Jr., Mary Ann Gray, James F. Roeser, Lucy Fox and Thomas E. Roeser. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Josetta Spiese and Anita Grab.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 with the Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. Cleon W. Hilliar, Jr.

York - Cleon W. Hilliar, Jr., 62, of York, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Nancy Bailey Hilliar and the late Cleon W. Hilliar, Sr.

After graduating from Eastern High School, he served in the U.S Navy as a Seaman Apprentice aboard the USS Belknap and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for professional achievement in the superior performance of his duties under hazardous circumstances while serving aboard his ship after a collision with the aircraft carrier, USS John F. Kennedy in the Ionian Sea.

An entrepreneur, he owned several business including the Broken Oar Inn, which he sold in 2015 and Hilliar Heating and Cooling. He loved fishing and boating on the Susquehanna River, cars and motorcycles.

In addition to his mother Nancy, he is survived by his children, Jennifer, wife of Lawrence Lindt; Michael, husband of Selena Hilliar; Ryan, husband of Amanda Hilliar; four grandchildren; sister, LeeAnne Hilliar and brothers, Earl, Glenn, Steve, husband of Penny and Blaine Hilliar.

Born in Omaha, NE he was the son of the late Roger and Phyllis Michel Mueller. Kent worked as a truck driver for 46 years, retiring from FedEx Freight in 2018.

William (Bill) Dale Grissinger, age 65, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his home on the morning of Tuesday, June 11th, 2019. He was born in Lancaster on September 12, 1954, and was the son of Edward and Dorothy Grissinger. He grew up on Grubb Lake and was a graduate from Hempfield High School in 1973. He worked at Armstrong for 25 years and then worked at F.L. Smith, Inc. for the last 17 years.

Bill embodied what is truly meant to be a cowboy. If you knew Bill in his younger years, you'd know that he was a "wild bull" who lived to ride and rode to live. he didn't take any lip from anyone, and that's how he earned his nickname "Mad-Dog." But if you gave him respect, he would give it right back, that was the type of man he was. However, his love for Harley's, Women, and Beer was nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He made a countless number of sacrifices, and always did everything in his power to make sure that his family was taken care of.

Bill is survived by his two brothers, Levi and George, his four sisters, Alma, Bertha, Dottie and Shirley, his three children Susan, Scott, and Mike, and his five grandchildren, Austin, Sierra, Cameron, Ayden and Rylie.

John L. "Jack" Rice, 73, of Marietta, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra Noll Rice with whom he was married 54 years. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James W. and Beatrice Whener Rice.

Jack graduated in 1965 from Donegal High School and was employed for the past 25 plus years at Mussers Supply, Inc. In the past he worked for Pennsylvania Malleable, R.T Mechanical and U.S Aluminum. He was a devoted member of Reich's E.C. Church and formerly served as a church Trustee and President of the Church Board. A former member of the Marietta Boro Council, he also served on the board of the former Marietta Area Ambulance Association; was a member of the Marietta Fire Company and the American Legion Post 466.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed hunting and spending time at the cabin in Perry County. In his youth he excelled in basketball and played and coached with the Reich's E.C. softball team. Jack loved doing various projects with his family and watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his wife are his daughters, JoAnn, wife of Tom Brill; Paula, wife of Dave Mowrer; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat, wife of Earl Binkley; Joan Segesser; Carol Reisinger and Linda, wife of Butch Paris. He was preceded in death by his son, John L. Rice, Jr. and siblings, Mike Rice, Arlene Groff, Maryanne Geesey and Jimmy Rice.

Funeral services will be held at Reich's E.C. Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Marietta, PA 17547 on Saturday, June 15, 2019 promptly at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dan Blank, officiating. Interment will follow in the East Donegal Township (Reich's) Cemetery. Friends may view at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Celebration of Life: Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

John M. Smith, 82 of Lititz, formerly of Lancaster and Mt. Gretna, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 7th, 2019 at Luther Acres retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late J. Mason and Nora Smith. John was the husband of Margaret (Peg) Humbel Smith. They were married on September 5th, 1959 and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. John was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Elizabethtown College, and Temple University. He was a retired high school business teacher and taught his first five years at Octorara High School before teaching for another thirty-five years at Conestoga Valley High School. In addition to his classroom duties at Conestoga Valley High, he was responsible for the school store for thirty years and coached boys tennis for eleven years. As a former resident of Mt. Gretna, John, along with his wife, became very involved in the community activities of the Chautauqua where they resided. John was also an avid tennis player for many years. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and very active in his grandchildren’s lives. John never missed any of their activities or events.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sister, Pat, wife of the late Rev. Dale Groff of York; a daughter, Julia, wife of Paul Stevenson of Hanover; a son, Timothy, husband of Sara Smith of Centreville, VA; six grandchildren, Daniel, husband of Allison Smith, Christopher Smith, Samuel Smith, Joshua, husband of Liz Stevenson, Jaimee Stevenson, Margaret Stevenson; one great grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Creeda Pickell.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 in the Luther Acres Community Room, 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, PA 17543. Clarissa M. Wolcott, 83, of Columbia, passed away on June 6th, 2019 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was born in Williamsport, PA to the late Donald E. and Viola M. Wolcott and lived in Columbia since she was six years old. Clarissa attended Columbia Schools and graduated from Columbia High School with the Class of 1953. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Millersville State Teacher’s College and taught elementary school in the Lancaster School District for thirty five years.

Clarissa was a member of the former Cookman Methodist Church, Columbia United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Columbia Public Library Board, Columbia Tree Society, Columbia Historic Preservation Society, Henry Wolcott Society, P.S.E.A. (Retired), P.A.S.R. (Retired), Susquehanna Angel Collectors Club, Witness Tree Chapter D.A.R., the former Columbia Woman’s Club, The Iris Club of Lancaster. Clarissa taught Sunday School for fifty two years and volunteered at the George Ross School in Lancaster. She is survived by her cousins and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Jones in 1998, her daughter, Juanita Steffy, and three siblings.

Charlotte J. "Sis" O'Reilly, 80, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at home. She was the wife of the late James W. O'Reilly, Sr. with whom she was married 56 years until his death in 2014. A lifelong Columbia resident, she was the daughter of the late Paul C. and Cathleen Hartz Bransby.

A Lancaster Catholic High School graduate, she was a homemaker and earlier in her life was employed at the Susquehanna Glass Company.

She is survived by her sons, James W. O'Reilly, Jr.; Patrick P. O'Reilly; Shawn B. O'Reilly; granddaughter, Kelsie B. O'Reilly and a brother, Richard G. Sr. husband of Margaret Bransby, and numerous nieces and nephews. A grandson, Cody Campbell and brother, Paul C. Bransby, Jr. preceded her in death.

Diehard Eagles & Phillies fan who loved coaching his sons in baseball and wrestling.

Celebration of Life: Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 12-6:00 pm at Ironville Community Park

Glenn J. "Sonny" Mull, Jr., 60, of Mount Joy, passed unexpectedly, doing what he enjoyed most, working in his garden. He was the husband of Dawn Styer Mull, his wife of ten years. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Glenn J. Sr. and Joyce Williams Mull.

A 1977 graduate of Donegal High School, Sonny was employed at Armstrong Flooring for the past ten years and worked previously for Wilton Armetale. He was a diehard fan of the Eagles and Phillies, amateur wrestling, riding his Harley and coaching his sons in baseball and wrestling. He also loved animals and leaves behind his canine family, Nash, Nadie, Mikey and Bailey.

He is survived by his wife Dawn, sons, Josh and Alex Mull; an expected grandson; sister, Deb (Dave) Cunningham, brother Jeff (Karla) Mull; mother of his sons, Kathy Butzer; sisters-in-law, Luann Pearson, Linda Lockard and Kathy Styer; mother-in-law Joyce Styer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, May 28th from 12-6 p.m. at Ironville Community Park. Casual dress or Philadelphia sportswear.

Dorothy Jane DeVerter McCarty, 91, of Columbia passed away on May 21st, 2019. She was born in Lancaster to the late Paul, Sr. and Lillian Koch DeVerter and was a lifelong resident of this area. Dorothy graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School with the Class of 1945. For many years, she was active with the Columbia Borough Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Whether it was attending various sporting events or having family dinners, Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt who treasured time with family.

Dorothy leaves behind her children, Elmer E. “Bud”, Jr. husband of Kathy McCarty of Salunga, Patti, wife of Joe Schauren of Columbia, Diane, wife of Alfred “Bud” Yohe of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Joey, Krista, Mark, Eric, Tricia, Kevin; eleven great grandchildren, Justin, Kristin, Sami, A.J., Brianna, Gavin, Gabe, Sophie, Brady, Quinn, Nolan; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. McCarty, Sr.; her daughter, Barbara McCarty; two brothers, Paul DeVerter, Jr. and John DeVerter.

Services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.
