Charles “Chub” Smith Hollingsworth, Jr., 84, of Columbia passed away on April 11th, 2021. He was born in Columbia to the late Charles and Ruth Jefferis Hollingsworth and was a lifelong resident of this area. Chub proudly served in the United States Navy and worked for thirty years at Caterpillar before his retirement. He enjoyed NASCAR, sprint car, and dirt track racing. Thelma M. Howe, 89, of Columbia passed away on April 11th, 2021. She was born in Columbia to the late Frank and Jennie Hohenadel Howe and was a lifelong resident of this area. Thelma attended and graduated from Columbia High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force where she was a part of the women’s softball championship team. Following her service, she worked for RCA for a number of years until her retirement. Known to be handy, Thelma was talented in carpentry and could work her way through electrical systems. She was a lifelong and faithful Catholic who loved and adored her family. 

Thelma leaves behind her brothers, Charles, husband of Pat Howe of Elizabethtown and Jim, husband of Chris Howe of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Lively and Jane Nau.

Garry R. Stoudt, 65, of Marietta passed away on April 9th, 2021. He was born in Lancaster to the late Earl and Shirley Stoudt-Brandt and was a lifelong resident of this area. Garry was a graduate of Manheim Township High School and went on to study at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. He started and ran his own company Stoudt Electric for many years. Garry was a renowned bassist and was a member of several prominent bands including High Tide. He loved the outdoors and loved floating down the Susquehanna River. Garry adored his family and treasured spending time with his grandson.

Garry leaves behind his daughter, Patricia Vandervalk, fiancé of Andrew Green of Marietta; his grandson, Ryland Vandervalk of Marietta; two sisters, Anne, wife of Jeff Mummau of Marietta, Cherri, wife of Brian Molzahn of Millersville; many friends. Dorothy M. “Dottie” Frane, nee Yost, went to heaven. She left behind her chosen family: Josephine C. Shade, her friend of 56 years and almost daughter, Johnny Johns her best friend, and her almost grandchildren, Raymond J. Shade, Jr. and wife Virginia, Angela Shade and husband Luke Theriault, Daniel P. Shade and wife Maria. Dottie also leaves behind the angels who befriended and cared for her through her final days, Jaqueline Cross and Kathryn Hojnacki. Her additional angels are Nikki “Misty” Young, Sherri Crouse, and Jackie McFadden.

Dottie was preceded in death by her three children, Cathy Frane, Ronald Frane, and Robin M. Frane. She is survived by her son Robert Frane and daughter Linda Frane. Dottie is also survived by her granddaughter Patricia Jo Frane and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her one sister, Alice Eisenhauser, two brothers, Paul “Skip” Yost and John “Jack” Yost.

Beatrice A. Zink, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since July. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Maizie Kreider Zink.

Bea retired from the former Kahn-Lucas manufacturing Company in Columbia where she worked as a digitizer. She also worked in the pattern room of the former Tidy Products for 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Columbia and was a cat lover.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Melody L. Zink; grandchildren, Lynette A. Zink, Zachary B. Zink, Arron S. Zink and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Donald A. "Tony" Zink, Gilbert B. Zink, grandson, Donald "Donnie" Zink, Jr. and siblings, Robert L. Zink, Thelma Reinhard, Catherine Holland and Violet Boyles.

Sara "Sally"Jane Edwards, née Gundel, born 1946, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 74 after a long struggle with osteoporosis and dementia. She is survived by family members: Joanne DeLancey (sister), John (husband), Brian (son), Lindsay (dil), and Grey & Geneva (grandchildren).

Sally grew up in Columbia, PA and was the first member of her family to go to college where she majored in English. In addition to being a devout mother, she worked in both social services and as a travel agent. She was a principled Christian and expressed her devotion through altruism, dedicating many hours a week as a crisis hotline worker. A consummate learner, she would immerse herself in diverse topics such as Judaism, making Kahlúa, knitting, and genealogy. She enjoyed long talks into the night over tea and toast.

Betty Jo retired from the Holy Trinity Catholic School in Columbia, now known as Our Lady of the Angels, where she taught school for 35 years. She was an active and devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Doehner (Luke), Corinth, MS; William B. Stephenson, Jr. (Paula); Southhaven, MS; Michael J. Stephenson (Dori), Lancaster; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was known to be a talented artist and cook who also enjoyed playing pool and video games and watching movies. Kevin was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Dale Earnhardt fan. Jacob proudly serviced his country in the United States Army. He retired from Eagle disposal where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Columbia Fish and Game Association and the NRA. Jacob enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.

Thomas Luther Jankans, 74, of Columbia, PA transitioned from Earth to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born on July 18, 1946 he was the son of the late Luther Charles Gilbert Sr. and Estella Jankans Henderson. He was the grandson of the late Catherine and William “Honey” Jankans who raised him. 

He retired from Harris Hub where he was employed in Production. He was a member of the former Harvey T. Makle American Legion Post #722. Tommy, affectionately known as “TJ” or “Jinks”, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and hosting cookouts or playing cards. Christmas was his favorite time of year, and his tradition was hosting a Holiday Open House where everyone would come to see his beautifully decorated Christmas Trees. He was loved and respected by everyone. He loved his family most of all and never missed a chance to let them know it. On April 2, 2020, Tommy made the best decision of his life when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Shirley K. Oakes, 71, passed away on March 14th, 2021. George I. Oakes, Jr., also 71, passed away on March 11th, 2020. Both of Lancaster, together they were both born in Altoona and had been married for over 40 years. George had proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. and had worked for the Dana Corporation for a number of years. Shirley had worked for Anvil International until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As for George he loved the Steelers, enjoyed golfing and playing with his grandchildren, especially hide-n-seek. 

Shirley and George leave behind their children, Denise McMullen of Elizabethtown, Todd, husband of Shana Lingafelt of Columbia; fifteen grandchildren and great grandchildren; several siblings, nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

Bear was so passionate about his hobby of riding motorcycles that it eventually led him to become the owner of three businesses: B&B Yamaha, Action Motorsports, and Yamaha of Camp Hill.

Craig M. Bear, 77, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Clarence and Clemmie (Andes) Bear. He recently celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary with wife, Patricia “Pat” Bear. 

Craig, who was best known as “Bear” by everyone, graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1962. Bear was so passionate about his hobby of riding motorcycles that it eventually led him to become the owner of three businesses: B&B Yamaha, Action Motorsports, and Yamaha of Camp Hill. Bear was a bit of a dirt bike icon in the industry, known by his reputation as an incredible racer and risk taker. In his youthful years, he was known for racing micro midgets. He and his family frequently spent time watching sprint car races. Bear was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that cherished his family immensely.  

In addition to his wife, Bear is survived by his children, Tawni, wife of Donald Lingle, of Manheim; Michelle, wife of Arthur Weaver, of Quarryville; and Michael, companion of Julie Fetterolf, of Columbia; his grandchildren, Josh, Nicole, Kelsey, Harrison, Austin, Kimberly, and Grace; and his great-grandchildren, Sawyer and KaiMara. Bear leaves behind many friends as well. He was preceded in death by his brother, Parker C. Bear. 

In honor of Bear’s wishes, he will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be scheduled for a later date by his family. Mike worked for over 33 years as a mechanic with Can Corporation of America. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mike loved spending time with his family and visiting the beach at Ocean City, MD. He was a wonderful husband and great provider for his family, and always put them first. Mike will be missed by his adoring family. To them, he was their hero.

Mike leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Patricia Warner of Reinholds; his daughters, Sonya Ide of Lancaster and Ashley Warner of Reinholds; two grandchildren, Jordan Greggs of Lancaster and Ava Diaz-Cruz of Reinholds; seven siblings, Donald Warner, Jean Andrews, Richard Warner, Mary Beck, Barb Rush, Anna Grove, Carl Warner; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Christian Warner, Jr., Robert Warner, and Debra Smith.

A public visitation for Mike will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19th, 2021 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. Wesley Minor Brown, 82, of Columbia, passed away on March 4th, 2021. He was born in Columbia to the late Minor and Kathaleen Cannon Brown and was a lifelong resident of this area. Wesley attended Columbia High School, where he accelerated in football and track and was also a member of the Varsity “C” Club. He was a truck driver and driving instructor. Wesley volunteered at St. Paul’s Baptist Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Wellspan York Hospital staff, Tower 3, for their compassionate care during his final days.

Wesley leaves behind two sisters, Emma Green (PA), Elaine Poindexter (FL), and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Geneva, Eugene, Cleon, Jordan, and Ruby.

Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Pastor Adrian Boxley, will officiate the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18th, 2021. Pauline Mosteller, 89, of Columbia passed away on March 7th, 2021. She was born in Columbia to the late Harrison and Myrtle Mosteller. Pauline was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1949 and worked as the secretary to the Mayor of Allentown for many years until her retirement. She was an avid reader and was known to be a great storyteller.

Pauline leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Dawn Mosteller of York; her nieces, Sandy Young, Beth Detz, Tina Manley; step nieces, Jennifer Dellet and Chris Rodman; Nephew, Lee Mosteller, Jr.; great nephew, Conner Mosteller.

Leona traveled, enjoyed time with family and friends and was the best Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother ever.

Private Family Memorial Service & Burial.

Leona Inman, 88, of Columbia, PA, ended her earthly journey on March 1, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born May 6, 1932, in Lilly, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Yingling) Cowher. She was a proud graduate of Lilly/Washington High School where she was salutatorian of her graduating class. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, George M. Inman and they married soon after he returned from service in the Korean Conflict.

The young couple moved to York and then to Columbia where she began her career as an administrative assistant. She worked at Grinnell Corp. for nearly 30 years and retired in 1995. She retired from work, but not from life.

Leona was an avid walker and earned many First-Place medals in the River Run. She walked up to three miles a day. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Lancaster for more than 20 years, and volunteered at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, cleaning and rolling dough for the famous fasnachts.

She traveled, enjoyed time with family and friends and was the best Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother ever.

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, George, and her grandson, George M. Inman III. She is survived by her devoted sister, Mildred Woods, husband John, of Pittsburgh, PA; three children, Jean Harrison, husband Scott, Joan Inman, husband Jeff Groff, both of Columbia, and George M. Inman II, wife Emma, of Norfolk, VA.; grandchildren, Scott Harrison, Jr., girlfriend Katy, and Heather Gansmann, husband, Jeff; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cole and Conner Pernice and Skylar and Xander Harrison, and her great-great-granddaughter, Hayden Broadhead, as well as nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service will be held at Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., Columbia, PA. Burial in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Renee Cannon, 61, of Columbia passed away on February 25th, 2021. She was born in Harrisburg to John and Edwean Thames and was a graduate of the former William Penn High School with the Class of 1977. Renee loved dancing to music and being an active walker. She enjoyed solving puzzles and baking, especially her sweet potato pie. Renee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cousin who adored her family and treasured spending time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Columbia. 

Renee leaves behind her daughters, Tamika Meredith, fiancé of Joseph Brown of Wesley Chapel, FL, Tanisha Cannon, fiancé of Jeremy Procise of Columbia; six grandchildren, Jaquan, Jaleesa, Tiren, Jeremy, Jr., Taliyah, Lanae; her mother, Edwean Thames of Collinsville, MS; her father, John Thames of Harrisburg; three brothers, Wayne, Mike, and Carl Thames; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Michael Cannon in 2017.

Debra Kay Crouse, 63, of Columbia passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on February 24th, 2021. She was born in Columbia to the late Robert, Sr. and Hilda Webb and was a lifelong resident of this area. Debra was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1975 and was known as a class act. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her home and family and especially loved decorating for the holidays and seasons. Debra treasured her family, friends, pets and created many wonderful life long memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. "This is not Goodbye, it's See You Later, Our Love"

Debra leaves behind her husband of 45 years Doug Crouse; her children, Jeremy Crouse and Kristin Crouse all of Columbia; three siblings, Barb, wife of Greg Ratcliff, Kathy Voight, R.J. Webb all of Columbia; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Rose Crouse of Newville; two brothers-in-law, Rick Crouse of Columbia, Todd Crouse of Manor Township. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Kroft.
