Donald H. Foltz, 84, of Columbia passed away on December 19th, 2019. He was born in Columbia and raised in Washington Boro to the late Raymond and Hazel Foltz. Don was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1953 and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he worked for "42 years and two months" at Caterpillar in York County before his retirement in 1995. Don had a passion for Penn State Football and archery, and was a past president of Fox Harbor Archery Assoc. He enjoyed hunting whitetail deer with his son and family in Potter County. Don's other interests included raising azaleas in his front yard from seedlings, growing tomatoes in his flower beds, and making many wood crafts. He was a long-time member and past president of the Washington Boro Lions Club. He also belonged to the Columbia VFW Post 2435 and was active in the former AARP Group in Columbia. Don was active as a coach and umpire in the CBAA baseball and softball programs in Columbia and coached the 1970 Washington Boro Little League Baseball Lancaster County championship team. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who treasured spending time with his family. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. Don was a faithful member of Washington Boro Church of God for more than 70 years and Central Manor Church of God for the past 15 years.

Don leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Hartman) Foltz of Columbia; his children, Barb, wife of Bill Armstrong of Lancaster, Donald, Jr. husband of Christy Foltz of Millersville; four grandchildren, Dr. Amy Armstrong, Julie Armstrong, Danny Foltz, and Caroline Foltz; his siblings, Jean Dyer of Florida, Richard Foltz of Washington Boro; his half-siblings, Arlene Johnson of Seven Valleys, Raymond Long of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Foltz and Pearl Shaud.

Services for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn St., Washington Boro, PA 17582. Hellam - Phyllis M. Hohenadel Whitmore, 77, of Hellam, passed away at home on December 17, 2019. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Hohenadel, Sr. who died in 2003 and the William Y. Whitmore who passed in 2011. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Richard P. and Melba Watson Groff.

Phyllis retired after eight years of service from the bakery department at Giant Foods, York, and previously was employed at Roanna Girl, Hellam and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia. She loved life, fishing and camping and found joy in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Robert E. Hohenadel, Jr.; Bruce M. Hohenadel; Brian M. Hohenadel; Brad S. Hohenadel companion of Jody Grim; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Richard Groff. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Hohenadel, sister, Linda Groff and sister-in-law Anna Frantz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St. Columbia PA 17512. He was the husband of Dawn Stern Smith to whom he was married for 36 years. He was the son of Patricia Young Smith and the late Leo J. Smith, Sr.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his children, Colleen M. wife of George A. Seibert II; Lauren E. wife of William T. Deasy; Adam J. Smith and his significant other, Alexandra L. Townsend; grandchildren, Alexandra, Emma and Tre; brothers, Stephen S. husband of Dolores Smith; Gregory T. Smith; sisters, Barbara L. wife of the late Vincent J. Giffuni; Yvonne M. wife of Wayne Yohe; Annetta V. wife of Stuart Cracraft, and Patricia A. Schmidt.

Leo owned and operated Smith Property Management and Smith's Laundromats.

He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Susquehanna River on his beloved "Orange Crate" pontoon and loved spending time with his family at the Jersey Shore. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 372; B.P.O.E # 1074; Lakeview Yacht Club, and V.F.W. Post 2435.

Elizabeth C. Graham, 93, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at ManorCare, Lancaster. She was the wife of the late John W. Graham, Sr. with whom she was married 57 years until his death in 2004. Born in Washington Boro, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Margaret Adimire Warner.

Elizabeth retired after 36 years of service from the Susquehanna Glass Factory where she worked as a glass cutter. A music lover and musician, she played guitar, harmonica, organ, and accordion. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a horse lover. Most of all, she found full enjoyment in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Ruthann, wife of George Goeke; Elizabeth, wife of John Becker; Cheryl, wife of Paul Dressel; John W., Jr., husband of Lori Graham; Margaret, wife of Russell Stoutzenberger; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Anna Zook and Teresa Keysock.

Patsy Jean Seifried, 90, of Columbia passed away on December 12th, 2019. She was born in Columbia to the late Clarence F. and Olive Snavely Gerfin and was a longtime resident of this area.

Patsy was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1947 and was an active alumnus. She attended the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in Philadelphia and worked for many years at the former Columbia Hospital before transitioning to Lancaster General Hospital and working with the Trinity House before her retirement.

Patsy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a volunteer for the Columbia Visitors Center. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and loved to travel and vacation in Florida. Patsy was loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who treasured spending time with her family.

Patsy leaves behind her children, Patricia, wife of Mark Fischer of Columbia, Lisa, wife of Rick Manley of Lancaster, Rick, husband of Tammy Seifried of Landisville; seven grandchildren, Travis, Marcus, Kristi, Nicole, Jesse, Niki, and Ian; four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard K. Seifried in 1991.

Harold proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserves and served aboard the USS Missouri. He worked for more than 30 years for the Sico Company and managed their service stations. He also worked part time for more than 20 years at Manheim Auto Auction and A.B.C. Auction driving their service trucks. Harold was a member of Masonic Lodge 496, Lancaster Forest #27, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and American Legion Post 34. He was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time in Florida and was also involved in a bowling league in years past.

Harold leaves behind his daughter with whom he lived, Carol, wife of Jeffrey Wasche of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Shaun Hartman, Mandy Weber, Justin Hartman, Kayla Wasche; three great grandchildren; five siblings, Bette Jean Wilkowski, Dale Hartman, Delano Hartman, Laverne Hartman, Sheldon Hartman. Mike was employed as Assistant Plant Manager for Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Co. for 12 years. He was a Methodist by faith. Mike was a Life Member of both the Foresters of America and the Columbia Canoe Club. Mike was a man of many trades and enjoyed passing on his skills in home improvement and mechanics to his loved ones. He enjoyed spending time at the river and hunting arrowheads at Long Level. He would say his greatest accomplishment was his children.

Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters: Elizabeth wife of Garrett Mowrer of Mt. Airy, MD and Emily Hooper of Apple Valley, CA, and a Son: Alec Hooper of Columbia, PA; a sister: Michele wife of John Kneisley of Lancaster, PA, and a brother: Stephen husband of Vicki Steiner Hooper of Columbia, PA.

He was the husband of the late Darlene Lucas Hoffmaster with whom he was married 50 years until her death on November 7, 2014. Born in Windsor, he was the son of the late John and Lula Brown Hoffmaster.

Dallas graduated from Red Lion High School in 1959 and was honorably discharged from the U.S Army where he served during the Vietnam War as a military policeman.

Dallas retired in 1997 after 23 years of service from the former Wyeth Laboratories (GSK) Marietta where he worked as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, spending time at his cabin in Potter County and was a member of the Potter County Snowmobile Club and the Columbia Fish and Game. His hobbies included spending time with his family and friends along with woodcarving, especially carving wood duck decoys.

Surviving are two sons, Timothy, husband of Juli Hoffmaster; Thomas Hoffmaster; grandchildren, Melissa, Sara, Holly, Tiffany; great grandchildren, Kiana, Taylor, Natalie, Brittany, Graysen; brother, Lynn Hoffmaster: sisters, Ruby Lucas and Bonnie Kauffman. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Clair, Bruce and John.

Ethel attended Marietta High School and worked for many years in hospitality at Lancaster General Hospital before her retirement. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, NJ and loved her city of Lancaster.

Ethel was the sixth of fourteen children and leaves behind three sisters, Betty Bridgette of Columbia, Glorea Gray of Lancaster, Shirley, wife of Robert Poindexter of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Albert and Richard Waters, Beathel, Edward, Laverne, and Charles Bailer; four sisters, Vivian Rowell, Esther Griffin, Jennie Stewart, Nancy Abernathy.

Robert T. Rigel, 88, of York passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 24th, 2019. He was born in Manchester Township and raised by the late Lloyd and Cornelia Rigel. Robert attended and graduated from Columbia High School and worked for York International for 37 years. He was a mechanical designer and a driving force in their computer generating software. Robert was a family man who treasured spending time with them. He was also an artist whose creativity was in his woodworking, book writing, and cartoon drawings.

Robert leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Kay Rigel of York; their children, Bob Rigel, companion of Rose Hayes of York and Red Lion, Pam, wife of Chris Kennedy of Apex, NC, Doug, husband of Diane Rigel of York; five grandchildren, Leah, Lonna wife of Clay, Keela, Cory, Laine; two great grandchildren, George and Henry.

Harry earned a degree from the Culinary School of Atlantic County and went on to share his baking expertise with multiple bakeries in many groceries throughout the country, most recently at the local Giant at Stone Mill Plaza in Lancaster PA. He enjoyed visiting the California redwood trees, the beach and treasured baking with his grand & great-grandchildren.

Ronald J. Brubaker, 70 and Marilyn M. Brubaker, 70, husband and wife, died together of natural causes at their residence in Columbia, PA on November 18, 2019.

Ron was born in Columbia, PA on September 27, 1949 a son of the late Robert and Elva Krow Brubaker. He retired from ITT Engineering and Valve Co. He was a 50 year member of the Chickies Rock Lodge Loyal Order of the Moose. He coached the Moose Braves baseball team from 1972–1976. He was a Columbia High School Graduate Class of 1968.

He is survived by a Brother, Gary husband of Denise (Meisenbach) Brubaker of Columbia. He is also survived by Siblings: Robert, Pat and Suzanne. He was predeceased by a Brother, George Krow.

Marilyn was born in Columbia, PA on December 10, 1948 a daughter of the late Earl C. and Doris Martin Hess.

Marilyn was raised by her grandparents George and Elva Martin. She was last employed in the sewing industry. She was also a member of the Chickies Rock Lodge Loyal Order of the Moose. Marilyn was an avid sports fan especially for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Surviving are Sisters: Sarah wife of Paul Kays and Brenda Mabee both of Arizona; Linda Nevison of Wisconsin; Rosalie Nystrand and June Steele both of New Jersey; and a brother, Victor husband of Linda Hess of North Carolina.

Margaret B. Von Stetten, 94, of the Willow Valley Community, went to be with her Lord on November 9, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Wayne Von Stetten to whom she was married 70 years until his death in 2018. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Evard P. and Emma Cleland Best.

Wherever she lived, she was very active in her church community. Margaret loved Christmas and family gatherings. She was happy to enjoy 30 years of traveling with her late husband Wayne after his retirement.

Margaret is survived by her devoted family, Wayne II (Debbie); James (Reenie); Eileen Gale, (wife of the late Christopher) Richard (Annette); 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Best (Nan) and Evard Best (Beverly).

At Margaret's request, her service of remembrance will be private with interment in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. If desired, contributions to Hands Across the Street, c/o the Columbia Presbyterian Church, 360 Locust St., Columbia, PA 17512 would be deeply appreciated.

Gene proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman from 1951-1955 and was a Korean War Veteran.

A graveside committal will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Gene B. “Bernie” Weiksner, 88, passed away at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Home on November 15, 2019. He was a 62 year resident of East Petersburg prior to moving to Mount Hope. Bernie was born in Altoona, PA to the late James F. & Pauline Weiksner, Sr. He was the loving husband of Pauline Weiksner who passed away December 30, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Weiksner, Jr. and Donald Weiksner. Bernie is survived by his children, Stephen, husband of Nada Weiksner of Marietta, Sheryl, wife of Carl Gehman of Ronks; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman from 1951-1955 and was a Korean War Veteran having served on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea and at the Naval Communications Station on the Island of Guam. Bernie retired from Federal Mogul in 1993 after 19 years as a Production Scheduler. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville and the East Petersburg Fire Company.

After retirement Bernie spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren, cheering them on at sporting events, dance recitals and concerts.  He loved to build things with them from Model cars to bird houses, take them to the pool and spend vacations at Bethany Beach jumping waves with them. The birds and stray cats never went hungry at their house. Bernie loved football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A graveside committal will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where Bernie will be laid to rest with his wife Polly. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st, 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral home, 247 Main St, Landisville, PA 17538.
